Baker & Spice, Shanghai

FOURTH BAKER & SPICE NOW OPEN!
A new Baker & Spice bakery concept store has just opened in Shanghai,
in the Shanghai Centre. We now have four stores across Shanghai, all
doing exceptionally well ..... and more too come!!

The long awaited bakery concept is a natural progression for
Wagas. Famous for their award winning sandwiches, now they are baking
their own bread for their sandwiches. Teaming up with global baker and
baking expert extraordinaire Dean Brettschneider, true
bread lovers have much to look forward to.

Dean is regarded as one of the most respected
bakers on the planet, with more than 24 years of experience,
author of 7 best selling baking books, celebrity TV personality
and a true passion for creating exceptional baking. Dean
has hand selected head baker David Brien from
New Zealand who will be creating daily the mouth watering
baked products alongside the beautiful selection of fine
wine, Baker & Spice own brand of jams,
chutneys, handcrafted packaged cookies, cakes, homemade
muesli and much much more.
David comes from a true artisan background, working in
award winning bakeries in New Zealand and Australia.
His philosophies are simple; use the best local ingredients
and combine with time honored baking techniques. His
passion is in every single Baker & Spice product.
A recipe for success, Wagas, Dean & David creates the very best of global
baking, right here in Shanghai.

The original Baker & Spice is located at 195
Anfu Lu, a destination in itself.
Through the smokey glass wall behind the chocolatey coffee marble counter
- you can see the bakers prepping Turkish pide, chunky fruit loaves,
to-die-for farmhouse carrot cake, delicious Danish pastries, sinful cakes,
cupcakes, scones and an extensive range of specialty hand crafted artisan
sourdoughs, traditional baguettes, multigrain, fruit & nut, olive, corn
and 100% Danish rye breads and rolls, not to mention the chewy authentic
bagels. There is also a small range of sweeter style breads.

There is a big old Chinese communal table with an eclectic mix of old
stools, a big pot of Baker & Spice Jam to share and the daily newspaper.
Grab your coffee, pastry or chunky toast and enjoy. The aromas of freshly
baked bread, cakes and espresso will ensure daily visits. And it’s stylish.
Getting out of bed on a wintery Shanghai morning to get the bread and
milk can be a whole new experience. If you can’t get down to Anfu Lu,
don’t fret - Wagas will be retailing Baker & Spice products.
This is the first store. Stay tuned for more.
